Come join our exclusive and thrilling elephant safari in the periphery of the Corbett Tiger Reserve, that takes you through the thick forests, deep valleys and rugged trails. To enhance this unique experience you are accompanied by a naturalist who will acquaint you with the abundant and diverse flora and fauna. A 4WD jeep will follow with your luggage and the camping equipment.
Day 1
Arrive at Tiger Camp, our resort situated in the periphery of the Corbett National Park by lunchtime. We take a jeep safari to the Bijrani/Jhrina Forest Range of Corbett National Park to track the elusive tiger. Later in the evening there is an orientation talk on your forthcoming safari, followed by a slide show on the flora and fauna of the area you will traverse during your elephant safari.
Day 2
After an early breakfast, we depart by jeep to the Riverine Woods resort to start our elephant safari and trek. We commence in the Himalayan foothills. We will also try and catch the ‘Mighty Mahseer’ – the famous fresh water fish of the Ramganga River. Equipment, tackle and expertise will be provided. Fishing is allowed only on a ‘catch and release’ basis.
After a hot lunch served on the banks of the river, we continue with the safari. The feel of just being on an elephant, and experiencing the forest on elephant-back, is an experience to remember.
We arrive back at Riverine Woods in the evening, built in characteristic Kumaoni hill style, for a refreshing cup of tea and overnight stay.
Day 3
After breakfast we set out on elephant-back into this magnificent landscape. We stop to give the elephants a scrub and bath in the Mandal River, while waiting for a hot lunch to be prepared. We meander along the Mandal River, through terraced farms and fields, where one gets an opportunity to study the culture of Kumaon. You can also interact with the simple and humble villagers.
In the evening we transfer to a 4WD jeep and head back to Tiger Camp.
Day 4
By day-break we depart by open jeep for a safari into Corbett National Park. The bird life in this area is splendid and the chances of seeing a tiger, leopard and ghoral are extremely good.
We return to Tiger Camp for a lunch and depart for our onward destination.
